Just back from one of the greatest pilgrimages I’ve ever done! I’ve been to many places on the planet but I think this takes the cake.
This is in the footsteps of the greatest Cricketer who ever lived – Sir Donald Bradman!
Took my great friends Chapmans with me and had an unbelievable Easter. So much so, I’ve booked The Crusaders to be there from Saturday 7th January to Thursday 13th January 2017.
Arrived in Bowral, Friday evening and had a superb day on Saturday exploring the highlands. On Sunday, had morning tea at 52 Sheppard Street where the great man grew up. The house has been taken back to the original state. John Chapman had a Golf game against the water tank like the great man did where he learnt his trade.
The house is unbelievable! The best room in the house is Sir Donald’s bedroom, still like it originally was – unbelievable!
We went on a tour around the district seeing the school and church where he went. Plus, the grounds where he made truckloads of runs – Exeter, Moss Vale, Mittagong, Centennial Park and some more.
Saw some beautiful country grounds, it is just unbelievable! All this, thanks to my great friend Andrew!
On the Monday, we spent time at the Bradman museum where I’ve organised a couple of games for Crusaders to play against the Bradman foundation.
In March 2017, The Outright team will play the Bradman academy. On Tuesday morning when we left Bowral, we went to Cootamundra, the birth place of Sir Donald. Picture of the hospital where he was born is added here. It’s a lovely town with a great park with a captains ‘walk’ built in. A bust of every captain of the Green & Gold is on show there.
We travelled to Temora and saw one of the best museums I’ve ever seen! It is 3 acres big and is manned by some great volunteers. The cottage was the first home of Sir Donald Bradman before he moved to Bowral aged 2 and a half.

A great Easter trip had.
